1. To Save a Lady, by Patricia Preston

This is a sensual romance set in New Orleans in 1814 during the final major campaign of the War of 1812. A French spy and an American army captain cannot resist the allure of the French Quarter, or each other, as the final battle looms. So juicy! Click here for the full review.
2. Tides of Love, by Tracy Sumner

This is an angsty, second chances romance set in the Outer Banks. I love a good bookish strong-man hero, and yes, this has one! Our heroine is feisty and independent, and together they create sparks enough to set the island on fire! Click here for the full review.
3. An Extraordinary Union, by Alyssa Cole

This is my favorite type of historical romance. It is steamy, the characters are dealing with life and death struggles, and they are in the midst of real history. Our heroine is smart and unbelievably brave, and our hero is beyond swoon-worthy. Best of all? It is the first in a trilogy! Click here for the full review.
4. Surrender, by Pamela Clare

This is the first book in Pamela Clare’s MacKinnon’s Rangers series. It is both a rollicking adventure set during the Seven Years War in North America and a steamy Scottish Highlander romance all in one. If you like historical protector romances, be prepared to one-click the whole trilogy! Click here for the full review.
5. The Devil Take Tomorrow, by Gretchen Jeannette

This is a high-action historical romance, set during the American Revolution. The romance is delightful, and the plot is pure romantic adventure. This novel is both heartwarming and pulse pounding – and our hero can handle a horse, a pistol, and a warship! Click here for the full review.
6. An Improper Situation, by Sydney Jane Bailey

This is a fun historical romance that starts on a rural Colorado homestead and ends in glittering 19th century Boston. The hero and heroine do indeed find themselves in an improper situation more than once! The heroine is independent and strong, and the hero is smart as well as dashing. Click here for the full review.
7. Mistress Firebrand, by Donna Thorland

This is a riveting historical romantic suspense novel, set during the American Revolution. I enjoyed it so much I read it twice! The romance and adventure crackle with intensity, and the history is spot on and suspenseful. Every heroine deserves to have a slice of decadent spice cake served to her on the end of a blade! Did I mention I read it twice? Click here for the full review.
8. The Scandal of Rose, by Joanna Shupe

This is an extra-spicy novella set in Gilded Age New York. It is an age-gap, kept-woman romance with all the feels along with all that spice. Perfect for when you don’t have time for a full-length novel, but want to transport yourself back in time for a exciting adventure! Click here for the full review.
9. The Christmas Dance, by Goldie Walker

This Christmas novella is a heartwarming western romance with a dash of spice. It is a friends-to-lovers story and is perfect for a cuddling up under a blanket with a mug of hot chocolate and reading to unwind during the holiday hustle and bustle. And I still love that figgy pudding can be used in courtship! Click here for the full review.
10. Devil in Our Hearts, by Lizzie Jenks

Yes, this is my book, and it is a finalist for the Romance Writers of America Diamond Heart Award for historical romance. I’m still pinching myself to be sure I didn’t dream that! It is set in New England in 1679. She is an ungovernable widow accused of witchcraft. He is a witch hunter, sworn to restore order. Together they ignite a passion that could consume everything they touch! Click here for the full book page.
11. (Bonus) Kindle Paperwhite

For those of us who need to travel with all the books! My ancient Kindle finally reached the “we will no longer be supporting the technology in this priceless antique” stage, and I replaced it with this. I love it! I can take as many books with me as I want when I travel without having to pick favorites, and yes, it is very lightweight, so it doesn’t hurt when I fall asleep reading and it hits me in the face (why I don’t read hardbacks).
12. (Another bonus) Reading Log

This is a fabulous way to keep track of books you have read and any important details about them. With this, when someone asks “do you know of any good historical romances you can recommend?” you can quickly and easily find the titles for them. It can also help when you want to remember which book you had thought of to gift someone or to tell Lizzie about because she might like to review it!
13. (Yet another bonus) Spicy Book Socks!

Every romance reader needs these! Seriously. Keep your toes toasty, and your reading even toastier! It lets folks know when they had better not disturb you unless it is to watch a movie of one of your favorite spicy books together.
14. (Final bonus) Spicy Fairytale Bookmark
For those of us who still like to turn real pages. This says it all and keeps your place when we are forced to take a break from your story.
