12 Great Gifts for Your Favorite Historical Romance Reader
It is, once again, that magical time of year when it would be really nice if someone else did some of the gift-searching for you! Here are some fantastic ideas for your favorite historical romance reader (and remember, buying a book for yourself for every gift you buy for someone else is a thing)!
Here are books I have reviewed over the course of the year, plus a couple of bonus ideas to make it a baker’s dozen, because bonuses are always fun! Yes, that’s thirteen, not twelve, but if a little is good, more is better, right?
1. Promised Land, by Rose Learner

This is a second-chance romance novella, set during the Revolutionary War, and packed with adventure and action. It was originally published as part of a three-novella anthology (Hamilton’s Battalion), and I am happy that it is also available on its own. I love that whole anthology, but Promised Land is my favorite of the bunch. Check out the full review.
2. Untamed, by Pamela Clare

Untamed is a thrilling and steamy historical romance that has my heart still pounding. Pamela Clare is rapidly becoming one of my favorite authors as I read my way through her work. The books in this trilogy can be read as stand-alones, so don’t think you need to read the others before this, unless you want to experience the MacKinnon brothers’ story unfolding in chronological order, in which case, start with Surrender. Check out the full review.
3. Untamed, by Lisa Rayne

Untamed is a rollicking western, full of banter, steam, wit, high stakes, and bad guys. I had no idea what to expect when I picked it up, as I had not read any of Lisa Rayne’s books before, but I loved it. You can bet I will be reading more of her books soon! This book was a breath of fresh air. Check out the full review.
4. Yellowstone Heart Song, by Peggy L. Henderson

Yellowstone Heart Song is a time travel romance, set almost entirely in 1810 Yellowstone. It has been a while since I read a time travel romance, but I couldn’t resist this one. A modern-day Emergency Room nurse who loves to spend her free time backpacking through Yellowstone, travels two hundred years back in time and meets up, and falls in love, with one of the first trappers in the region. Check out the full review.
5. Spine of Steel, by Andrea Janelle

Spine of Steel is a delightful, short, romp of a novella, set in Victorian era Virginia. Perry Trenton is a staunch suffragette, fighting against the constraints on women’s free speech. Her brother’s best friend, a lawyer and “the single most infuriating man on the planet,” may be the only one who can save her from the local Comstock laws. Check out the full review.
6. The Turncoat, by Donna Thorland

The Turncoat is a spectacular historical romance spy novel, set during the American Revolution. Prepare for some sleepless nights because you will be unable to put this book down! One of my favorites of the year. Check out the full review.
7. Let us Dream, by Alyssa Cole

Let Us Dream is a beautifully brash romance novella, set just as New York State is preparing to vote on giving women access to the ballot. It is also a time when many immigrant groups were being denied the legal option to come to America. These two historical threads weave through the story to create its irresistible plot. Check out the full review.
8. Belle Canadienne, by Juliet Waldron and Jay lang

Belle Canadienne is a wonderful, old-fashioned historical novel with a tender romance. If you are looking for an immersive experience that will transport you to early Quebec, you will love this story. I did! Check out the full review.
9. The Gilded Heiress, by Joanna Shupe

The Gilded Heiress is a sexy, fresh, first-person romance that will keep you turning the pages well into the night. The main characters are scrappy and relatable, and they will charm you from page one. So much fun! Check out the full review.
10. Defiant, by Pamela Clare

Defiant is the heart-pounding, keep-you-up-reading-all-night conclusion to Pamela Clare’s brilliant MacKinnon’s Rangers trilogy. They can each be read as standalone books, so you can dive on in! Check out the full review.
11. A McKettrick Christmas, by Linda Lael Miller

A McKettrick Christmas is exactly the novella that the world-weary reader in search of some holiday magic called for! Check out the full review.
12. Devil in Our Hearts, by Lizzie Jenks

Yes, this is my book, and it is an award winner, including being a finalist for the Romance Writers of America Diamond Heart Award. I am so pround of well this book has been recieved! She is an ungovernable widow accused of witchcraft. He is a witch hunter, sworn to restore order. Together they ignite a passion that could consume everything they touch. Check out the book page.
13. Bonus! Passion’s Duty: Romance and the American Ranger, Book One, by Lizzie Jenks

“[A] slow burn romance that delivers just as much heat as it does complex relationship dynamics.” -BookLife
